Lenovo laptop screens

What do all these screen configurations mean? XGA, WXGA, SXGA+, WXGA+ and WSXGA+ … What is the difference?

Screen is one of the most important components for laptop. Lenovo has about 8 different configurations of screens and 3 different sizes. Here is a list of all 8 configurations –

SVGA (Super Video Graphics Array) - resolution 800 X 600
XGA (Extended Graphics Array) – resolution 1024 X 768
SXGA+ (Supper Extended Graphics Array) – resolution 1400 X 1050
UVGA (Ultra Video Graphics Array) – resolution 1600 X 1200
WXGA (Wide Extended Graphics Array) – resolution 1280 X 800
WXGA+ (Wide Extended Graphics Array) – resolution 1280 X 854
WSXGA+ (Wide Super Extended Graphics Array) – resolution 1680 X 1050

WUXGA (Wide Ultra Video Graphics Array) – resolution 1920 X 1200

I was always asked which one is better? Well, the simple rule is - the higher resolution, the better screen.

Lenovo laptop screen has different sizes of 12, 14 and 15 inches. Beyond that, there are normal screen and wide screen in each size group. Which size/one is better? It all depends on personal preference. One thing need to mention, T61- 8891 and T61- 8897 which all have 14 – inch normal screen are discontinued. If you prefer 14 – inch normal screen, act now, there won’t be a lot of brand new ones in the market for sure.
