What is Intel Turbo Memory? Why would I consider having Turbo memory?
Intel Turbo Memory (also called Robson cache) is a technology introduced by Intel to use Flash cache technology to reduce boot-up time, load frequently used applications faster and write data to the hard drive faster.
Intel Turbo Memory highly improves Microsoft Windows Vista operating systems since it supports read and write caching for Vista ReadyBoost and ReadDrive features.

Lenovo laptop screens
What do all these screen configurations mean? XGA, WXGA, SXGA+, WXGA+ and WSXGA+ … What is the difference?
Screen is one of the most important components for laptop. Lenovo has about 8 different configurations of screens and 3 different sizes. Here is a list of all 8 configurations –
SVGA (Super Video Graphics Array) - resolution 800 X 600
XGA (Extended Graphics Array) – resolution 1024 X 768
SXGA+ (Supper Extended Graphics Array) – resolution 1400 X 1050
UVGA (Ultra Video Graphics Array) – resolution 1600 X 1200
WXGA (Wide Extended Graphics Array) – resolution 1280 X 800
WXGA+ (Wide Extended Graphics Array) – resolution 1280 X 854
WSXGA+ (Wide Super Extended Graphics Array) – resolution 1680 X 1050
WUXGA (Wide Ultra Video Graphics Array) – resolution 1920 X 1200
I was always asked which one is better? Well, the simple rule is - the higher resolution, the better screen.
Lenovo laptop screen has different sizes of 12, 14 and 15 inches. Beyond that, there are normal screen and wide screen in each size group. Which size/one is better? It all depends on personal preference. One thing need to mention, T61- 8891 and T61- 8897 which all have 14 – inch normal screen are discontinued. If you prefer 14 – inch normal screen, act now, there won’t be a lot of brand new ones in the market for sure.

Discrete vs. Integrated Graphics
Question: I'm looking at purchasing the ThinkPad T61, and I'm confused about Discrete Graohics or Intergrated Graphics card? The Discrete Graphics is kind of expensive. Is it worth it? What differences will I notice?
Intergrated Graphics card means video integrated with the laptop motherboard. Thus, it uses a portion of system memory and relatively slows down the laptop performance.
Discrete Graphics has its own (dedicated) memory to process graphics data. It supports multiple display and TV-out. The dedicated memory for Graphics doesn’t process other data, so the performance is relatively faster.
Why Discrete Graphics costs more? First of all, the manufacture needs to purchase the separate hardware including Graphics chip and memory. Second, the manufacture needs to design an interface to a Discrete Graphics chip to provide the best video performance.
Users will notice the performance difference between Discrete and Integrated chips when running graphics-intensive tasks. For example – video game, graphic design, photo viewing/processing, video editing and online/offline movie/DVD playing.
Lenovo T61 comes with three options of Graphics chips –
Inter X3100 – Integrated Graphics chip
nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M - Discrete Graphic chip with 128 MB dedicated memory
nVIDIA Quadro FX 570M - Discrete Graphic chip with 256 MB dedicated memory
Among all three options, nVIDIA Quadro FX 570M absolutely provides the best performance and is the most expensive one. That’s why T61P are all configured using nVIDIA Quadro FX 570M.
